The band

Kiplin Ltd came together in Brest, France, in 2021, when two musicians met: Vincent Le Goaster, a drummer looking for a new band, and Thomas Deshayes, a guitarist and singer who had been going it alone for a while. The duo format is not a casting accident, it is the whole point: a rhythm side, a melodic side, and nothing in between to hold the writing back.

The name is a nod to Thomas Shelby Limited, the company in Peaky Blinders. The "limited" has nothing to do with limits they would impose on themselves - quite the opposite.

Their rock distils the 70s and the 90s: the British invasion, the pulse of Pink Floyd, the brat energy of Oasis and its plug-in-play-and-go nonchalance. The lyrics are in English, for the sheer practicality of the sounds: rhythmically, you cannot cut words the way you do in French. Vivid and novelistic, sometimes dark because this is rock music, they aim above all to be visual.

In 2024 came Eleven Records, their debut album: eleven tracks, the outcome of four years of work, followed by a vinyl release taken to the stage of Le Vauban in Brest. Along the way there was the opening slot for Déportivo at Les Tombées de la Nuit in Lampaul-Guimiliau, the BZK Festival on the Crozon peninsula, and a long run of bars, breweries and festivals across Finistère.

Off stage, both are firefighters. Quiet and methodical on call, they leave room on stage for something else entirely.
